The Department of Aerospace Engineering and Engineering Mechanics invites applications for a tenure-track faculty position at the Assistant Professor level. Applicants must have an earned PhD in Aerospace Engineering or a closely related field with a specialization in aerospace structures and/or structural dynamics. Candidates with expertise in one or more of the following areas: composites, aeroelasticity, light-weight structures, smart adaptive structures, multifunctional structures, and UAV design, will be given preference. Faculty members, in addition to developing a successful research program and teaching graduate courses in their specialization, are also expected to teach undergraduate level aerospace engineering courses. Recent graduates as well as those with industrial or university experience are welcomed. The department offers the BS and MS degrees in Aerospace Engineering and participates in the Joint Doctoral Program in Engineering Science/Applied Mechanics with UCSD. Southern California offers exceptional opportunities for industrial research partnerships with its extensive aerospace industry.
